Vice President Finance & Accounting – Global Shared Services
Our Client
Our client is a leading international engineering and construction company with
approximately 15,000 employees worldwide. The business operates in a highly
project-driven environment, delivering complex large-scale projects across global
markets.
As part of its international growth strategy, the company is currently establishing a
new finance organization in Chennai, India, which will serve as a central hub for
global finance and accounting activities.
Your Responsibilities
• Full responsibility for building and leading the global Finance & Accounting
organization in Chennai
• Setup, migration, and consolidation of accounting and finance processes from
international entities into the new shared service center
• Leadership of a large international team of approximately 200 employees
• Design, implementation, and scaling of a global shared services model
(Finance & Accounting)
• Establishment of standardized, efficient, and scalable end-to-end finance
processes
• Oversight of global accounting and reporting processes in a project-driven
environment (including PoC accounting)
• Ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closings (IFRS and
local GAAP)
• Ensuring compliance with German accounting, tax, and financial regulations
(HGB, German tax law) as a key group requirement
• Implementation and enforcement of internal controls, governance structures,
and audit requirements
• Driving automation, standardization, and ERP-based finance transformation
initiatives (e.g. SAP)
• Close collaboration with Group Finance, the CFO, and international business
units
• Acting as key interface for auditors, advisors, and external stakeholders
Your Profile
15+ years of experience in finance within engineering, construction, EPC, or
other project-driven industries
• Proven track record in building or managing large-scale finance shared service
centers
• Extensive leadership experience managing large international teams (ideally
100+ employees)
• Strong experience in transforming and scaling finance organizations in an
international environment
• Solid understanding of project accounting (including PoC and long-term
contracts)
• In-depth knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP
• Good knowledge of German accounting and tax regulations (HGB, German tax
law) is mandatory
• Experience with SAP or comparable ERP systems in complex environments
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills in an
international context
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build structures from scratch and
drive change
