The Mission

Our client is a leading global biopharmaceutical company developing and producing life-changing therapies across multiple therapeutic areas – including immunology, oncology, neuroscience, and vaccines. The Berlin site plays a key role within the group’s global manufacturing network and is currently undergoing a major transformation toward higher agility, efficiency, and digital maturity.

Your Role

As Director of Site Engineering, you will take full responsibility for the site’s technical organization – including engineering, maintenance, utilities, and capital projects. You will lead the team through a phase of modernization and cultural transformation, ensuring reliable technical performance and driving excellence across all areas of Site Engineering.

  •  Lead the Site Engineering and Maintenance organization, managing both day-to-day operations and long-term transformation initiatives
  • Take ownership of the site’s technical budget and annual CAPEX plan (approx. €20 million)
  • Directly manage a core team of seven and indirectly lead around 60 technical professionals
  • Develop and implement strategies for maintenance excellence, digitalization, and process optimization
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP, safety, and environmental standards, embedding Good Engineering Practices across all activities
  • Strengthen interfaces between Engineering, Production, and Quality to ensure reliability, efficiency, and product safety
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation through automation and smart data use
  • Represent the Site Engineering organization within the global network and act as a trusted counterpart for corporate functions and authorities

Your Profile

  • University degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or related discipline)
  • Proven experience as Director or Head of Site Engineering & Maintenance in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment – with full technical and organizational responsibility
  • Strong background in both Engineering and Maintenance; combined scope of responsibility is essential
  • Demonstrated success in leading transformation and digitalization initiatives
  • High intrinsic motivation to drive agility, efficiency, and modernization – and to lead by example
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
  • Strategic thinker with a pragmatic, hands-on mindset
  • Fluent in English
